Announcing Inspiration Island online class!

Escape the winter blues and come get lost on Inspiration Island!

As promised, I'm here tonight to release the launch of my newest online class, Inspiration Island! I have had emails coming in every week asking for me to teach a new class and it feels great to have my plans being set into motion for this one! This art journal class is a spin-off of Ink Blots with more of what YOU want to see! In Inspiration Island, we will be delving even deeper into the world of art journaling, exploring different techniques/thoughts, and starting out 2012 on a good creative tangent. The class material is wildly inspired by incorporating art journaling into our everyday lives. Not only is there going to be sketching, there will be mixed-media prompts, projects, and guests artists galore!

This class is a BIT more expensive than my last, but the projects presented are more intensive and there is a wider range of mediums used! I am excited to be able to teach different lessons using sketching AND paper projects! Drawing inspiration from our current season, I know that this gathering of creative minds will give us all the boost we need!

Forms of payment accepted: Paypal! Please use button below to purchase your spot in the Inspiration Island online class! Please make sure you enter the correct e-mail when you check out with PayPal (purchase with the "Buy Now" button below) because you will be given access to the private blog through an email.

Class Q and A

Many of you have been craving more details of the super sweet Paper Popsicles class coming up. Well I'm here to answer some questions, divulge some details, and put rumors to rest.

Q: Why is the price so much higher for the new class than Ink Blots?

A: Ink Blots was my first class and I didn't really know what I was doing. I am now more equipped on how to host and conduct an online class! This means that it's going to run more smoothly. Also, Paper Popsicles is more intensive than Ink Blots including MORE assignments, challenges, and prompts. There is also new mediums thrown into the mix which make it fresh, exciting, and inspiring, but also more time consuming.

Q: Will the prompts be different than those seen in Ink Blots?

A: OF COURSE! I wouldn't charge you twice for the same prompts! All prompts and topics discussed in Paper Popsicles will be completely new. The class setup will be similar (ie: lessons and assignments each day, etc.) but the ideas presented are all new.

Q: What makes Paper Popsicles different than other art journal classes I've taken?

A: First of all, most classes have 1 post per day whereas my classes have 2: a lesson post and an assignment post. Your assignment post might even include extra prompts some days. Also, I offer free downloads and giveaways throughout the 3 weeks. And lastly, since I'm not as big of a name in the blogging world, I have more time and smaller class sizes that contribute to better and more frequent communication!

Q: How long will I have access to the class blog?

A: At least one year. I will leave the private blog up so that you can work at your own pace!

Here are a few things you can expect from Paper Popsicles:
*Yummy craft project tutorials including a summer guest book for visitors, and a pretty prompt jar.
*Delicious video DIYs and tutorials
*A bi-weekly "Flavor Challenge" where you create art inspired by different frozen treats! Eeek! (one of my favorite features!)
*Sugary sweet posts by guest artists each week.
*Chances to meet new blogger friends and constantly being inspired.

Also, here's what a few of my Ink Blots students said at the conclusion of my last class:

"The class was awesome! Thanks so much for your time and talent!! The assignments were challenging and the lessons were packed with information! You did an awesome job!! The giveaways, clutch tutorial and the guest artists were unexpected bonuses!"

"I absolutely loved this class! thank you so much. it was super fun, & worth every single penny."

"This was a class that I not only enjoyed doing, [but] I learned some different techniques from the other journalists who posted their work in Flickr. I also enjoyed your new and different prompts that I haven't had in previous classes. I did alot of drawing where I haven't done before. I really enjoy drawing now than ever."

Overall, I'm running this class because YOU asked for it! I've gotten TONS of comments and emails asking when I would host another class and Paper Popsicles is for all those bloggers and artists! To that end, if I don't have a certain number of students enrolled by July 15, the class start date will be postponed to August 1. I want to have a "classroom community" so that each student gets the most out of the class and doesn't feel alone out there.

If you have any other questions about the class, please direct those to kelainedavis [at] gmail [dot] com and I would be happy to answer them!

Project Doodle!

Hi pretty people! Broadcasting from back in my little town in Indiana. Although it’s wonderful to be back in my own little house with my kitty and all my craft supplies, I know next week I’ll want to go back to the island. It was SO fantastic to just be able to trek around the island seeing all the pretty candy color beach houses and eat at the local cafes and not have to go to work! We had so many delicious ice cream cones from hometown places in Anna Maria and Sarasota too!

So to kick off me being back on Hoosier soil, I’m going to tell you all about something awesome happening around the blogosphere! Allie from Alexandra Rae Design is holding a FREE class on bring out your inner doodles!

I happen to be a contributor of this project and I’m going to be so proud posting my doodle pages in the flickr group every day! You can all participate for FREE! The project is called 30 Days of Doodles and for a month, Allie will be offering prompts to get your creative brain working overtime and get your journal nice and full. You should totally head over to the blog and see what it’s all about. I want to see everyone trying their hand at doing something creative every day in June! Did I mention it’s FREE!? Because it is. ☺ (And by the way, Janel has a similar project going on as well! Why not try both?)

I hope you can join in on the doodly fun! It’s totally worth it!

Ink Blots Top 10

I decided to do another little post about Ink Blots, my new online class! Mainly I'm writing this post because I've gotten emails and requests from people wondering more about the class. They want more details, more excitement, and more of an inside scoop into what the workshop will have in store. They want to know EXACTLY why this class is AMAZING. I will tell you.

1. It's cheap! It really is! You can't beat $12.00. That's $4.00 a week and about $.53 per day! <3
2. Meeting new friends. I've ALREADY subscribed to 4 or 5 new blogs just by seeing the girls taking the class and I'm THRILLED at the awesome inspiration I have found!
3. 2 posts a day! Most online classes only do 1 post per day with a few extras thrown in. Ink Blots will have at least 2 posts per day packed full of inspiration and awesome prompts to think about.
4. Students inspire curriculum. I have left a few days blank toward the end of the 3 weeks, that way I can feed your interests! There will also be request posts and Q&A posts where you can suggest topics you would like to see!
5. Inspiration for other parts of your life. The raw inspiration found in Ink Blots will fuel your creative fire for other parts of your life! It can be helpful for etsy shop development, ideas for gifts, and just other projects in general.
6. Bonus Material! I won't give away the farm, but there are TONS of little bonus material items I have planned throughout the class including extra tutorials, free downloads, and other surprises. :)
7. Giveaways! There are also going to be multiple giveaways during the class for some special prizes! You will love them!
8. Developing personal style. You will have guidance on creating your own personal drawing style and channeling it to make your journal your new creative home!
9. Crafts! There are also journal-related craft project tutorials throughout the 3 weeks as well!
10. It will change you creative life! This is the most important feature: this class will help you get into the routine of CONSTANTLY keeping yourself inspired and doing something creative every day. It will help you take baby steps from being a craft-lover to an artist.

Even Baby Phoebe wants to take the workshop!

You can purchase your spot in this unforgettable online workshop here or in the sidebar on my blog:

I am LOVING that so many people have signed up because I'm getting SO much more inspired now that I know so many pretty girls are going to be playing along! This is one of the most inspired times I've had in such a long time! Come play with us!

See Elaine Teach

Hey guys! Exciting news! I'm forming an online sketchbook workshop to be held sometime in April or May! The workshop will be based around starting your own drawing book like I have or expanding your own existing sketchbook! It's my very favorite form of personal inspiration and I have decided to share it with blogland! I'm gathering research and information about what YOU ALL want to see as a part of this workshop! I'm eager to get responses and feedback because the class is already taking shape!

If you all could please take 3 minutes of your time to take my survey so that I can get a better idea of what my readers want and need in an online workshop!

Click HERE to take the 7 question survey!

I really value your anonymous responses and look forward to using the results to improve my class curriculum!

project*central

What are you all up to this weekend? I've actually been VERY creative lately which is a huge change from the last few weeks. The coming week includes the last 5 days leading up to my Spring Break in which I EXCLUSIVELY plan to be creative. :) So in the meantime, I'm trying to keep up the newfound creativity by drawing in my sketchbook every day and making sure to read some inspiring blogs! Here are the results of the creative bursts I've had the past few days:

I made this moleskine sketchbook cover from the Style School class pattern! It turned out SO much better than I thought it could and I had been saving this fabric for something special! It's awesome to have colored pencils on hand with me at all times. I chose pencils from my Spring Palette to tuck in the front of my new cover!

Here are some plushies that I've been dreaming up for awhile now and I finally had the time and motivation to MAKE them! They turned out SO cute, especially the owl which my friend Tori lovingly named Gertrude. :)

Tori, Ian and I were also able to hit up the thrift on Friday too! Here's some of my great finds from the last few thrift trips:

I love that vintage woven handbag! It's going to be my new go-to purse for a night out to dinner. :)
Well I wish everyone a happy and productive Sunday with lots of creative ideas on the horizon! I know mine will be!
