Lately I've been hard at work on a "semi-secret:" Tori & I bought a booth space at a local craft fair on the 17th! It's not really a secret, but I've been waiting a bit to spill the beans until I have some pretty merchandise photos to share! Together, Tori and I are starting a new business venture together and it's been very exciting for both of us to brainstorm together and get super inspired for the upcoming fair.
These are some pics I snapped when I was sewing up our fun graphic mini pillows the other night. I'm kind of a little in love the color palette. :)
We have a long list of great merch and I can't wait to post some more peeks and info about our booth. We have A LOT of work to do in the next 2 weeks, so you'll be seeing more works in progress.
In other news, I'm very behind on Project Life, so I'm playing catch-up with that project while still trying to stay on top of blogging, photo editing, new sessions, and work. It's been a busy beehive in the Davis workshop this past month! Here's to even more inspiring vibes in November!

Around our Home
The other day I got stitchy and made a cute little ghost pillow for our living room. I wanted something kitschy and Halloween for the armchair and decided that a pillow would be perfect!
It turned out adorable. The front is dark brown fabric to match our couch and the back is a spiced orange color with brown polka dots. The ghosts on the front are cut from a thick stiff piece of felt from the craft store and sewn on with my sewing machine! Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Phoebe popped in for the shot and I couldn't resist a close-up. :)
I also livened up our cubicle top and half-wall with some favorite fall prints, a white woodgrain votive holder, and my favorite fall collection: my little ghost family!
I got that "Boo" sign at Hobby Lobby for only $4!
This little guy is a find from last year that I altered to make it more cute. I love the falltime and since it's my birthday on Halloween, that makes it extra dear to me!

as promised
thrifted goodies and my skirt. We went to a few flea markets on Saturday which turned out to be busts, but we didn't forget to stop by our favorite local thrifts and goodwill. Here's the vintage dress I scored:

It's kind of really crappy fabric, but it was just so cute! It definitely calls for leggings though because it is SEE THROUGH, baby! haha I tried it on at the thrift store, walked out to show Tori, and she could see my pretty brocade underwear through it. hahaha
I also found a little fawn on my adventures Saturday (the one laying down in front:

My deer all love each other. :)
Soooo this actually isn't really a better photo of my skirt that I made, but it was my wardrobe remix photo for yesterday, so I thought I'd share.

It's a wrap-around with a GYNORMOUS tie that makes a GYNORMOUS bow that I love. :)
*side note: I think it's funny that the only fabrics I ever go for in fabric stores are the ones that are in the clearance section. I guess no one else likes the quirky vintage-looking pieces that I love? My mom always says: "Elaine-- there's a REASON those are in the sale section, honey." hahaha she thinks I'm crazy.
I'll be back later today with my fashion loves at the moment! Is everyone pumped about spring fashion!?

the do-nothing chronicles
This weekend was a success. Ian said that we weren't doing anything we didn't want to do. This included: covering work shifts, homework, projects, talking to annoying people, putting up with stupid stuff, eating yuck food, etc. It was a weekend COMPLETELY about doing things WE wanted to do and it was GLORIOUS.

Agenda:
*Friday night: fun errands, pizza dinner, rented movie, seeing Leap Year on campus theater, sewing/video games
*Saturday: cleaned our rooms(yes we WANTED to do this. haha), showed my room to freshmen tour groups, lunch with our best friend, flea markets and thrifting for the 3 of us, Noyer Bash(party in our hall), won some prizes, Burger King, movie on TV, Target trip.
*Sunday: breakfast from local bakery, trip to Lafayette to meet both sets of parents, wedding planning, marathon of the Office.
ummmm best weekend ever? probably. <3
Here's a peek of the skirt I made myself Friday night. I decided not to use a pattern and just use my imagination. :)

Also, thrifting was a mild success. Came out with a little vintage fawn figure, vintage dress, and a bubble umbrella. <3 pictures of those soon hopefully.

P.S. Ian's grandma goes in to a specialist tomorrow to get test results back from a spot on her lung. Any prayers you can manage would be much appreciated. Thank you everyone for your thoughts!

What are you all up to this weekend? I've actually been VERY creative lately which is a huge change from the last few weeks. The coming week includes the last 5 days leading up to my Spring Break in which I EXCLUSIVELY plan to be creative. :) So in the meantime, I'm trying to keep up the newfound creativity by drawing in my sketchbook every day and making sure to read some inspiring blogs! Here are the results of the creative bursts I've had the past few days:
I made this moleskine sketchbook cover from the Style School class pattern! It turned out SO much better than I thought it could and I had been saving this fabric for something special! It's awesome to have colored pencils on hand with me at all times. I chose pencils from my Spring Palette to tuck in the front of my new cover!

Here are some plushies that I've been dreaming up for awhile now and I finally had the time and motivation to MAKE them! They turned out SO cute, especially the owl which my friend Tori lovingly named Gertrude. :)

Tori, Ian and I were also able to hit up the thrift on Friday too! Here's some of my great finds from the last few thrift trips:

I love that vintage woven handbag! It's going to be my new go-to purse for a night out to dinner. :)
Well I wish everyone a happy and productive Sunday with lots of creative ideas on the horizon! I know mine will be!

view from my room
Here are a few favorite shots from my room now that I did some crafty decorating this 3-day weekend:
*handmade pillow by moi:

*I love it when it rains. <3 it will rain in my room each morning!:

*display of nerdicles:

*my partner in crime: my sewing machine, Kennie:

*a wonderful woodgrain headboard I painted this weekend. I feel like an autumn princess with an actual headboard. <3:

My dad cut a piece of foam core board out with the jigsaw, I painted it, attached a 3-dimensional monogram, and attached it to the wall. THe flowers are silk poppies from Hobby Lobby spray painted to be more muted and autumn-like.
*vintage luggage hanging out waiting to be styled. :] :

What's your home look like? Link me up!
