Sooooo guess what! Ian and I were thrifting the other day at a local flea market and I came across this little beauty! An Enid Collins Original! Imagine the look on my face when I saw the trademark "ec" in the corner and the price tag only said $20.00!!! After snatching it up and doing some research, I've concluded that it is indeed an original creation of Enid Collins that she made and sold prior to the sale of her company.
After Enid sold her business, she still oversaw the design process and production but the bags were not created by her by hand. The lower case "ec" is the telltale sign of a coveted original!
She makes such cute and fun designs! I was initially drawn to look at the purse because of it's cat motif (It's the crazy cat lady in me), and I'm excited that this particular one is the first that I add to my personal collection!
This will definitely go down in history as one of my favorite thrift finds of all time!

impracticality
I did something VERY VERY impractical today. I was in Payless Shoes minding my own business when something popped off the shelf and BEGGED me to adopt them. I bought these GORGEOUS supple leather beauties and it was a magical moment.

They're much higher a heel than I usually care to wear, but they are seriously SO comfortable! I know that I'm not going to be able to wear them to work for more than a 2 or 3 hour shift, but I thought they would be ADORABLE for going to dinner with friends, going to plays on campus, or... let's face it-- photoshoots. :) I just couldn't resist. I'm getting REALLY into heels lately, but I just need to go more special places so I can wear them. haha Not that that doesn't stop me from wearing my sexy black wedges to the grocery store. hahaha

A lot of my posts lately have been about fashion. I feel kind of bad/whatever about that, but I think it has something to do with this phase I'm going through. As you know, my meds have been all wonky with le OCD, and I just haven't really been feeling much craftiness. I keep jotting down all my new ideas in my journal, but nothing's really coming of them. HA! I'm ok with it for now. Let's just hope this issue doesn't persist. Right now I just want to shop, get pretty things, and play dress up. Because that's the way we girls deal with undue smatterings of emotions. :) I'm not arguing with that logic!
Hopefully I'll be back later tonight with the second half of my Spring Trends series!

Mini Loves
My best friend Tori gave me the BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER today! I went to her house to pick her up for our Saturday shopping trip and she handed me this GORGEOUS kitschy wrapped gift and I about died:

She wrapped it in newspaper, used a handmade screen print of this print to accent it, then strung some handmade pom poms all around. She knows how much I love handmade gifts and I about FREAKED out when I saw this. She's taking a screen printing class and thought this print would be cool to distress and use as a printing project. I agree!!!
So I opened it and this is what was inside:

Hasbro just came out with this ADORABLE sets called Blythe Loves Littlest Pet Shop and they are the cutest things ever. The doll is a TEENY tiny little Blythe doll and she comes with a matching pet!

I didn't know about them until she gave me one, and now I want to collect all of them! It's 2 of my favorite playthings put together as one. Love so much.
So that was a pretty cute present I got from a pretty cute girl. :) Thanks Tori dear. :)

makeover madness
As you know, I've been hard at work on the Davis Suite and we've made a few changes in the past days between work, wedding, and other obligations. It's not finished yet by any means, but here are a few of the things I changed.
First, the "before shot:"

Bad, right? Cha. Total boy room if you ask me!
Here are some of the current pretty changes:

It feels so much more wonderful. I love our reading nook. It's quite possibly my favorite part of the room so far!
Also, I've been having a lot of fun getting all dressed and pretty for work each day. Here's a little wardrobe remix action for you. This is what I wore yesterday to work:

shirt: Target
skirt: Target
shoes: Payless shoes
necklaces: Wal-Mart & handmade by me
hairpiece: Claire's
hair extension: Hot Topic
ring: vintage gift from Ian

SO much fun. OH! and look at what Ian surprised me with yesterday!!!

a very Steampunk and chunky owl ring! I love it SO much and it's a perfect addition to my collection of pretty statement rings. Love it so much!
That's all for now! Hope all is well in Summerland for everyone!
I love my readers! Leave me something pretty to read!

one shot make it rock
Second post of the day! I always want to post more than one in a day, but I'm always worried that people won't read my one from earlier then... does anyone else feel like that? I think I'm going to try to get over that and just start posting whenever the hell I want. Sound good?
Today had it's ups and downs I tell you. blahhhhh. First up, then upper, then crash and burn, then up again, now downish again. haha Gotta keep movin though. Halfway through the week!
here are some better pics of my new haircut:

Also, here's a pendant I won last week from Cathy Walters' etsy shop via a giveaway on Elise Blaha's blog!

I got my choice of charms from her shop and let me just say that the pendant charm is SO exquisite, but dainty enough to wear every day. I put it on an extra long chain and it's one that I'm going to wear every day. So check her out! :)
There was a request to view my outfit from today, so here it is! I forgot to wear green on St. Patrick's Day (my fiancé's favorite day of the year!), so consider this your opportunity to virtually pinch me. ;)

dress: Old Navy
coral cami: Old Navy
leggings: Wal-Mart
moccasins: Target
hat: Rue 21
necklace: Cathy Walters' etsy shop
belt: Old Navy
sunglasses: Old Navy
purse: vintage/gift
yeah... i shop a lot at Old Navy. haha

well I'm out. Gotta hit the books real quick for a Spanish Quiz tomorrow. Chapter 9 is just THRILLING... not. haha

oops...
I maaaaay have gone to Archiver's yesterday and bought some supplies. I just couldn't fight the urge any longer. :/ I felt guilty afterward, but what's done is done. lol
I walked away with a bunch of sale items:

clockwise from top left:
*k*i "just married diamonds"
*Cosmo Cricket... i forget the name. lol
*TPC Studio "Mediterranean Summer Whitewash"
*TPC Studio "woodland whimsy owls"
*Cosmo Cricket "early bird" sticker sheet
*Hambly Studios "kraft frame stickers"
*Basic Grey "nook&pantry" chip stickers and take note blocks
*Pink Paislee tapes in "Lime, Bayberry, and Orange"
*Cosmo Cricket "Ready, Set, Chip" letters in "Red line"
*Making Memories "Puffy Alpha" stickers in green
*Cosmo Cricket "Ready, Set, Chip" letters in "Paul Bunyan"
so needless to say, I'm gaga over it all. Mmmmm. I actually made a layout last night using some of my new chip stickers and borders last night for the Kara challenge week:

Also, I had a pretty large amount of feedback about the scrap supplies swap, so I've decided to organize a small swap between several people! It will be open to anyone and will be tons of fun! I'll do a post about it soon, but when I do, you will be able to comment me with your email address, I will pair you up with someone, you can email each other, and do a fun little swap! Everyone wins!!! Who's excited!?
side note: I'm exercising outside today because it's 63 degrees and BEAUTIFUL here! YAYYYYY!

2010, Bring it on

I'm here blogging my 2010 mantras and and goals like everyone else in my crafting world. :) I always feel wary calling the "resolutions" because I find it restraining and demanding to say "I absolutely resolve to _________." I don't feel that I can FORCE myself to do something, mostly because I'm stubborn. So if I see it as a challenge and a creative process, I'm more likely to complete it. haha SOooooo that being said, I reveal to you my mantra for 2010:

I want to grow as a person, grow with the changes in my life, grow to love the girl that I am, let my relationships grow, and let my personality grow. :)
I have set a few basic goals for myself:
1. keep a steady pace with the wedding tasks
2. don't rush life
3. seriously consider my FITNESS, not just weight loss
4. finish up my college career on a strong note
5. constantly stay inspired and motivated
6. do what makes me happy as well as what is necessary
I think these are broad enough that I can make some excellent headway in the things that I need and want to accomplish. I feel that this year is going to be one of my very best and i love that I feel happy and healthy as it begins. :)
ASide from that, the holidays were AWESOME! My Christmas with my family was so warm, comforting, and brilliant! Some of the amazing gifts I received are:
Twilight

Harajuku Lovers perfume

Lady Gaga album

diamond earrings

cutie Bride's emergency kit :)

Nintendo Wii and TONS of games!

sweatpants from my sister's college which i LOOOOOVE!

It was just to magical and sweet. I got SOOO many of the things on my list and loved watching everyone else open theirs! I can't wait to come back in the next day or two to blog about my fitness plan. I'm hoping to get others on board too! I hope everyone is starting off their "twenty-ten" the right way.
I'm loving the thought that I start 2010 as Elaine Read and end it as Elaine Davis. :)
