insanity at its finest

I've had 2 days off the past 2 days and I'm always disappointed to go back to work after my days off because I never get to DO as much on those days as I'd like to. I need more hours in the day! Yesterday slept in, went to Muncie to run errands, and thrifted with a friend. Today, I woke up around 9:30 and starting making pretty things for my etsy update happening soon! (Date to be announced)

Oh! And I dyed my hair purple.

it's true.

I've been really enjoying my free time that has been happening and I'm FINALLY feeling inspired again after a long dry spell since the wedding. I think I was just so busy that all I wanted to do was sit my butt on our couch and do nothing rather than busy myself with stuff "just because." But I've gone through that phase, and now I'm re-vamping my creative space, drawing ideas out in the sketchbook, and actually making my drawings into products and goodies for friends. :)

Oh! And have I told you guys that there's a new girl coming to live with me?

:) Her name is Margot and she left China on the 8th so she SHOULD be here soon!

So much to share and update in the coming days. If you've held out through the dry spell THIS long, hold on a little longer!

Florida Chronicles: Sea Breeze

So Wednesday we went to the beach and it was even better than i remembered it last. I haven't been in a few years, but it was positively gorgeous.

The water was such a GORGEOUS shade of aqua that I could hardly stand it! It would have made all the crafters out there just die. :) I snapped SO many pictures of it because I don't even think I knew a color like that existed. haha

Malinda and I waded out in the water and it was about the temperature of bath water! So warm and wonderful! But the temp at the beach itself was HIDEOUSLY hot! 102ยบ! We also combed the shore for a few miles searching for pretty shells and amazing sights to capture.

This is sort of really sad, but I wanted to savor the experience because with the oil spill, I just don't know what the Gulf will be like next time I'm there. :( The oil spill is so unfortunate... and it's wreaking havoc on the sea life, but I know in my heart that they are doing everything in their power to relieve it.

On a lighter note, Gemma got some sun too. :) Malinda made her some cute little dress out of her new studio this week. This one is a little Beach maxi dress and it's just precious. Gemma had a good time on the shore. haha

So overall, it was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous, peaceful, and serene. I wish I lived closer so I could go and clear my mind more often. I felt so at peace with the waves rushing in and out. :)

I play with dolls.

it's true.

and my favorite doll is my little Blythe, Gemma. <3 I can't believe I haven't done a post about her yet!!! Honestly, I haven't had a ton of time to take photos of her what with all the job hunting, graduations, and trips back and forth to home.

One of my goals for the month of June is to thrift/make a few more outfits for her and bring her traveling with me and get some cute shots in. She's coming to Florida with me next week, so that should be cute and fun!

Here are a few of my favorite shots I have gotten of her since I got her!

OH! And if you haven't already, go on over to Allie's blog and check out the blog makeover I did for her! It was SO much fun! Here's the before and after:

So go on over and leave her some LOVE!!! I love that girlll!!!

Love to all from Gemma and Elaine!

soooo I've been saving the money I've made from my etsy shop to buy something that I've been wanting for the past year. I finally saved up enough money to purchase it! I've been very careful spending money since I'm getting an apartment soon and planning a wedding, after gradually saving, I reached my goal!

I'm getting a BLythe!

YAY! I'm soooooo excited! I have wanted one for about a year now but never got one because i refused to pay THAT much for something silly like this, but I got an UNBELIEVABLE price on eBay. <3 My girl is in the mail to me as we speak!

The style I got is the Aztec Arrival. <3 She's an ADG because I thought that would be good for my first one. Here are some Cuuuuute pics from flickr that I found of some ADG Aztecs:

I'm sooo excited! I've researched Blythes for a long time and I'm so glad I'm finally able to have a fun new hobby! Can't wait to make clothes for her.

Anyone have any ideas for names!? I think I have one picked out, but I might be open to suggestions!

Dollhouse

Soooo I know this is a sensitive topic for some. People either love them or hate them I feel like. Well personally i LOVE them! I think they're so pretty and creative and just inspiring that it can turn into a new hobby! I love it. I wanted to do an inspiration post about my wishes for a pretty blythe! <3 If you really hate Blythes THAT much to stop reading this post, then do so now. :)

Blythes were first created in the 70s. Many photographers and artists had them to practice photographing in different lighting conditions or locations. There are so many different types of dolls you can get ranging from the originals to several types of replicas. There are also tons of customizations you can do on your doll as well like changing her hair, her eye chips, and sanding her face to make it easy to photograph! I want to be a collector so much because I think it would be a really cute and fun hobby!

Pretties. Ooooooo I want one so much!

Holly's cupcake lover, Talula!

Elsie's little cutie family. love*love!

Mini indie girls.

Prettttttty hair and eyechips!
