Day 6: Travel Journal

Before I left for vacation, I had some time to throw together a little travel journal for the trip.
I wanted to make a mixed paper journal, but there wasn't time. So! I'm a crafter by golly! was able to snag a good-sized spiral bound sketchbook and I went to work on the cover! Covered it in some of my favorite paper, reinforced it with chipboard, and painted it! I didn't bring hardly ANY craft supplies on the trip, so I'm really just using found paper and a few key supplies to create the journal. The key items are glue stick, colored pencils, Thickers, washi tape, Project life journaling cards, & the Travel Smash Pad.
After the trip I'm going to make a real scrapbook, but this was a nice art project while on the trip. Also, I think I'm going to continue it as an... event journal? I'm not exactly sure yet but we shall see! Happy to share peeks into my journal and I'll be posting some inspiration images for making your OWN travel journal soon! <3 E

Day 5: Beach House

Hello friends! I wish there was a special native way to say Hello in Florida, but to my knowledge there is not! (Readers: please let me know if there is) But I'm here to share some snaps from around the beach house today!
Here's our beloved beach house rental on Manasota Key. The water's edge is about 20 yards from our back porch. Pretty rad.
This is the view from our back porch too. Paradise-like.
Love the boy <3
Here's our screened-in pool and jacuzzi. Praise the heavens for this pool.
Few random detail snaps from around the house.
Here's a little tortoise friend I found under the porch the first day at the house! Ian named him Reginald and he is near and dear to my heart!
And of course some sunset action. *required* ;) Hope everyone's week has been just as sunny as mine has! Going to be savoring the last 2 days at the beach house! <3 E

Day 1: Tarpon Springs

On our way down to the key, we stopped at a little Greek boating community called Tarpon Springs for lunch, sight-seeing, and shopping! Their main way of life in the town is Sponge Diving and selling the sponges-- FASCINATING!
We ate at an open-air greek restaurant called Hellas that was incredible. Everything from the music to the decor in the bathrooms seemed authentic and it created a whole atmosphere that I loved.
The town of Tarpon Springs has one main road that is the main drag thoroughfare where all the shops are and such. Everywhere I turned there were murals, art, handmade things. SO unique.
Tomorrow is going to mean searching the shores of the Gulf for shark teeth, reading this book and watching my adorable husband try to catch a shark. ;) <3 E

Vacation 2012

Right now I'm in a motel in Georgia on night one of my vacation! Ian, his family, & I are heading to Manasota Key, Florida for a week of relaxation at a beach house! I'm looking forward to painting on the beach, hunting for treasure, snorkeling, and just soaking up some rays!
I'm trying to treat this vacation as a "re-group, re-juvenate, re-lease" week. I'll have lots of down time so hopefully that=lots of time to share some snaps of the week! <3 E

Honeymoon Album Progress #2

Surprise! I didn't get the album done as fast as I thought because life got in the way. haha But I thought I would share part 2 of the album's progress!

Tide

Products used: Paper: sei (girlfriends Jocelyn) Stickers: American Crafts (Remarks), Colorbök shapes
Embellishments: Doodlebug Inc. brads, K&Co. journaling tags, Paper Source embossing powder (silver pearl) Dye Cuts: Cricut (Simple Life?), Sassafrass Lass journal block (Sweet Skully) Ink: Staz-On (black) Pens: Creative Memories fine tip (red)

Anna Maria Island

Products used: Paper: sei (girlfriends Jocelyn), white cardstock Stickers: American Crafts Thickers (Venus), Doodlebug Inc. (Hopscotch), misc letters, K&Co. Grand Adhesions (Sea Glass), Making Memories Noteworthy (Tara) Embellishments: Maya Road canvas pennants, Martha Stewart paper ribbon, acrylic paint (Pistachio Mint), homemade shimmer mist (jade shimmer) Ribbon: My Mind's Eye Lime Twist baker's twine (Remember)

For this 2-page spread, I also decided to stick in an 8.5x11" page for LOTS of journaling front and back! I think it really adds the best memories to the book because I'm able to add a lot of details that I wouldn't otherwise fit on the layouts.

So that's the progress of the album so far. It's coming along! The hardest pages are coming up: HOGWARTS. Its going to be SO hard to get all the photos and journaling crammed on to a reasonable amount of layouts. haha I think I'm also going to add a page toward the end of the book with a pocket for our receipts, rental car information, packing lists, and any other memorabilia leftover from the trip. (I save EVERYTHING on trips. haha)

Is anyone else working on a travel book right now and want to share!? Even if its one you've done int he past: I want to see it, so LINK ME UP!
