The Magic of Projectland

So despite being so busy and being absent from this blog in the past few days, I've at LEAST been able to get around to some miscellaneous projects lately which i LOVE. <3

revamping my old ballet shoes from when I was a dancer. I thought they needed a studded edge to them.

hand embossing my wedding invitation envelopes. Whew.

Making cute fall crafts for my etsy update coming this weekend.

Drawing up a storm in my moleskine.

Learning to knit some way cute slouchy hats for the fall!

Packaging up orders from Red Door Vintage

So many pretty things happening that I can hardly contain myself. I never want to go to school or work because I just can't concentrate! Too many pretty falltime things in my mind to be made and not enough hours in a day. All I want is to lock myself up in my own imaginary studio for like... 3 days and just create everything in my mind right now. It would be incredible. Fall is SUCH a magical time for me. :)

I declared this past Saturday the first official day of my personal fall. The leaves are falling, the weather is changing and Starbucks has all it's falltime drinks out, so to me it means autumn. :) Magics.

Loves to all.

sisterly love

Well as you know, my sister Anna came and stayed with me this weekend. it was TONS of fun! Not everything went according to plan due to the weather, but it was still FUN! I hadn't seen her since Christmas so it was a great refresher.

We had a cute little photoshoot, but it was so COLD and snowy that we weren't able to be out for very long. Here's some of my favorites from the shoot:

Isn't she gorgeous!?
We also went thrifting a bit and let me just say it was a GOOD weekend for thrifting! I scored a few pairs of shoes, some trinkets, vintage jewelry and a few neck scarves. More pictures coming soon!

Those are hard plastic vintage bangles I got in pretty bold pastel colors for spring!

Aside from Anna coming, I was able to make a few cute crafts at the end of last week finally! Here are some things I completed:
Some pretty apricot colored accessories for myself: knitted bow cuff with vintage button and a funny but pretty handmade fawn charm. It's a wooden nickel, cover with paper, punch, painted, and embellished. LOVE IT!

Also, here's the finished product of my knitted chain link necklace. I'm not really sure how to wear it exactly and with what, but it turned out fantastically in pretty plum and chartreuse!

I'm pretty sure this week is going to be a bit more hectic from last week and I'm hoping I have the stamina to keep it up! Last week was a nice lazy week to get caught up. I'll be spending this week finishing graphics projects like my new screen printing project and my business card project for Lithography.

I'll try and stay motivated if you will! ;)

everything you've looked for

listening to Taylor Swift and getting caught up on miscellaneous things today. Got everything crossed off my to-do list from last week so I consider it a success. :]

I went to see New Moon last night and it was FANTASTIC! I thought it really stuck to the book and they did SUCH a great job in casting the roles for all the wolves. The one-liners were great too:
"Age is just a number, baby. What are you, like 40?"

Plus Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) is the sexiest thing on 2 legs as of late. I can't get enough of those abs. haha I've been daydreaming about this crush of mine ever since. He is HOTT!

Oh my I could spread him on a cracker. haha But yes--the movie was fantastic.

I finished my scarf last night!

I love the way it turned out! You can find the pattern here on ravelry for free! Enjoy!

I also recently finished my old moleskine!

and now I'm on to my new and improved moleskine! Bedazzled with the Musica sticker set from RVA and rivets a la Crop-A-Dile! It was fun to decorate and I'm liking the new design.

It's weird to be drawing in a new book. I was so used to the other one. It was all worn in, curved and fat with clippings and drawings. The new model is blank and skinny, but I'm sure I will grow to love it. Change is good. Check out the pages from my old Drawing Book No. 3 on my flickr. Good times. :]

well that's all for now! I'm on Thanksgiving Break now but I have to stick around campus until Tuesday night to work, so I'm sure you will hear from me again soon!

I'm not going to make you things with you begging me all the time when I don't even know you! You won't give me the time of day unless you WANT something! XOXO

The birthday's over and the dust has settled...I'm 22 now and full of new ideas and really going places in my life I think.

Halloween was brilliant! Ian and I went as Dr. Gregory House and a dying patient. It was good times, good fun with friends at parties, and Ian made a SUPERB House.

I got to don fake blood, an authentic hospital gown, and an IV bag full of Hawaiian Punch. :]

On another note, I've been in the re-vamping mood. Today I decided to FINALLY make my fall garland that I've been needing to make since September. I feel upset though because I only get to have it up for...a month? :[ it makes me REALLY sad that fall is only a month from being over. So i made a little garland for my desk area and also re-accented my little quote board.

Check out these gloves I made getting inspiration from THIS tutorial. The pattern she gave didn't really work for what I wanted, so I re-vamped it a little bit. I looooove the outcome. The gloves even match the neck warmer I had previously made, so now I have a nice little set that I love.

Some quick wardrobe fun! THis is what Elaine Read wears to a 9-year-old's birthday party on a November Sunday. haha

jeans:Merona
black shirt:Old Navy
plaid shirt: thrifted
scarf: Wal-Mart!
Jade necklace: Forever 21
Gold necklace: some mall store
shoes: Natural Selections fur-lines moccasins
handbag: Kangol

and last but not least...
I have news that I've been waiting since JUNE to share!

I GOT PUBLISHED!!!!!

Beth Opel from Crating Keepsakes Magazine e-mailed me back in June asking me if I would be interested in designing for the December issue and of COURSE I said YES! I designed 2 pieces for a feature on gift tags in the latest issue of CK. It came out to newsstands yesterday and it was SO fulfilling to see my work in national print. I almost cried when I saw it, I'm telling you. It has just been an AMAZING first publication experience for me! So check out page 76 of the newest issue of Creating Keepsakes and you'll see my fresh face icon and fun gift tags! :]

I'm so excited that its November despite the fact that fall is coming to a close. Now I'm faced with one important decision:

December Daily or not?

Tight knit week

Soooooo my crafting life has PRETTY MUCH been about knitting this week. You see, I go in phases with different crafts. I go through serious paper phases, jewelry making phases, painting, knitting, etc. I always come BACK to each craft, but I just get really into one thing or another at different points in time. Right now its a knitting phase. A few things I've been up to:

a "Happy Autumn" gift for my hall director/boss who happens to love coffee. I made her a cozy for mugs that opens and closes. It's out of one of my very favorite yarns.

a new neck warmer for myself for fall time. Soon to be accompanied by matching scroogies.

and some fun little nerd photobooth action haha

I've also been watching too much project runway and I've decided that I'm going to make myself some clothes. I don't care if I'm not a seamstress. I don't care if I'm not the best sewer in the world....I'm doing it. I need something like this:

yes, my dear friends, a red pencil skirt. And I shall wear it with patterned tights, handmade headbands, and nerd glasses. I think I'm really going to try it and I think it would be AWESOME if I could put a little tiny ruffle on the back. Yes.
Tim Gunn, INSPIRE ME!

If anyone knows of some awesome beginner level knitting patterns, link me up! <3
ok out until tomorrow! Expect some linkage for you in the afternoonish. Until then, I live in the land of handmade accessories.
