DIY: Text Pillow

Here's a cute little project I came up with after browsing my Google Reader for inspiration. I'm IN LOVE with pillows and i love having tons of them taking over my spaces. :) So I hope you enjoy this super easy tutorial!

Supplies:
*fabric
*felt
*tracing paper
*pen
*pins
*scissors
*tape measure

Step 1:

Print out the letters of the text you want on your pillow from your computer. Big, bold letter work best! Typefaces like Helvetica, Century Gothic, and Impact would be successful. After printing them out, trace them onto tracing paper to make a more sturdy pattern. Cut those letters out!

Step 2:

Arrange the cut out letters on the back of the felt and pin in place. (I accidentally did my letter "L" backward, so don't do that. haha)

I then traced the outlines of the letters on to my felt because it's easier for me to cut that way. So cut your felt letters apart.

Step 3:

Lay out your felt letters on your fabric to choose a good size for your pillow. Remember to make room for your seam allowances! After cutting out the 2 sides of your pillow, measure from each side of your pillow form to the letters to check the symmetry.

Step 4:

Pin letters in place and sew them on to one side of your pillow fabric. Once the letters are secured, place right sides of your fabric together, pin and sew the perimeter of the pillow leaving an opening to turn the fabric and stuff.

Step 5:

After turning, stuff your pillow using poly fil stuffing or a pillow form if you have one. Once stuffed, pin closed the opening and sew closed.

And there you have it! A classy, chic accessory for any room! It can be customized and tailored to any personal decorating style. I love it so much and it's just so... grown up, yet designed creatively.

Here's a look at a few of the pillows I made today:

I made the LOVE pillow, a panda plushie for my bestie in Ohio, and a lovely pillow with Guatemala on it for THIS lovelie's cute home. :)

I've had a agood day of sewing on my day off and I'm glad I was able to cross some of my projects off my list! Maybe you can add this cute DIY project to yours. :)

I love! I don't know how to sew... The only time I've used a sewing machine was in a Home Ec class in the 7th grade. This pillow alone makes me want to find a sewing machine and learn how to sew! So so cute! :)
