Style Crush: Candy Cane Stripes

+
It sounds like a line, but one of my favorite Christmas candies is the candy cane. Seriously! I have a full box of the mini canes on my coffee table right now right beside an almost-empty box because we have consumed them in less than a month! Candy canes bring about a favorite pattern too which is stripes! Winter is the perfect time to bust out all your striped long sleeved henleys and striped scarves and put them to good use. Look at all these pretties!

Oooooo i love fashion so much. As little money as I have right now, it makes me want to go shopping for some fun pieces I can mix with other pretty patterns like some winter plaids! What's your current style crush!?

The Scarf Project

Since we've moved into this new apartment, I've found myself swimming in unused clothes, shoes, purses, scarves, jewelry, hats, etc. I've been trying to make moves to clear out some of this useless stuff and donate it so that someone else can get some use out of it.

My first organized attempt at clearing things out and USING the things I have is what I've been calling The Scarf Project. At the beginning of autumn I set a goal to wear every single one of the scarves I own at least once before the end of autumn. I sifted through all the scarves I own, made a descriptive list of each one, and posted it on the inside of my closet door.
As I have worn each one, I've checked it off the list and posted a photo to Instagram. Here's a few of my faves:

It's been a fun little project to document, not to mention a project in self-awareness! You wouldn't believe the things we keep around in our homes and never touch! The pieces I found myself avoiding, I simply put in the donate pile! Feels good!

I guess I'm blogging about this to encourage everyone to go through their closets and rid them of things you no longer use. There are people this holiday that could use them! (Plus it's kind of fun to give yourself a wardrobe challenge!) Maybe we should come up with a hash tag for Instagram? ideas, ideas... Let me know if you decide to do something like this!

Hey! Don't forget to stop by on Wednesday for the big Blog Party Extravaganza! Click here for details!

The fall fashions are in full swing. I know I've got my palette figured out and have started purging my current wardrobe to make room for pretty new pieces! Have you BEEN in the stores lately? I'm loving everything I'm seeing. la-la-lovely! One of my very favorite fall trends this season is polka dots! They are SO cute paired with other patterns, used in the linings of purses & jackets, large prints, small prints, everything. LOVE IT! Here are some images from my inspiration arsenal:

Style Crush: Color Blocking

My theme for this summer so far has been color blocking. I wear solid color maxi skirts, a contrasting tank top, and cross body purse. Voila! I've been wanting to mix it up a bit though. Adding in some unusual accessories, trying out some different color combos, etc. Here's some color blocking inspiration from around the web that's got me thinking about mixing it up!

So many things I love about this. I love the vibrance. I love the idea that "matching" doesn't exist. And I adore clutch purses lately.

Fashion message of today: be daring.

Husband Attire

Lately I've been trying to create a lookbook of ideas for outfits for Ian. The kid needs some serious help. Especially when we're going out to dinner or going to Lafayette for a therapy appointment or something like that. I've been pinning a few potentials to create some realistic looks for him, because he's not too adventurous when it comes to fashion. He's more of a... jeans, chucks, and superhero shirt kind of guy. So I'm trying to find pictures of outfits he might ACTUALLY consider wearing. We all know he's not going to go prancing around in tighter slacks and Sperry's, although I would take it! HA!

What do you think? Those of you that actually KNOW Ian-- can you see him wearing any of these things. I don't know if I can sell him on the cardigan, but I might have a pretty good chance with the rest! As the summer goes on, maybe I'll do some Husband Attire Outfit posts. That would be SO much fun and he's a cute guy! ;)

Summer Dress Update in Vintage-land!

If you haven't already seen, there is a brand new summer dress update in the Red Door Vintage etsy shop! There are some of the most seriously sweet frocks for summer that I have ever seen!

I mean, COME ON! How adorable, right? The patterns are just outrageous and the styling possibilities are endless. There are more where those came from too!

Check out Elsie's Daily Outfit Catalog for a great resource for lots of sweet inspiration on how to put a modern twist on vintage threads!

OK seriously-- at least go browse the shop and gaze at the lovliness that is the inventory. Lots of swooning going on.

Home is Wherever I'm with You

Ian and I went to the prettiest and most magical little farm yesterday. It's called Stoneycreek Farm and Nursery. I had wanted to go pick pumpkins, but I wanted a real patch with gourds and possibly some cider for sale. Ian promised to find me a "full service pumpkin patch" with all the bells and whistles I required. :) That's my man.

They had the most darling things too. SERIOUSLY! I fell in love with that aqua farm truck and the pumpkin tree. I think we're going to make a pumpkin tree a tradition with our kids someday. :)

Ian bought us tickets to take a hay ride back to the patch to pick our own pumpkins. Their flat bed had the fluffiest hay and it was so much fun to be wearing cozy fall clothes and bumping along a muddy path to a fir tree and pumpkin patch. *Dream come true!*

What I wore:
flower crown: manzanita
ruffle undershirt: Faded Glory
plaid shirt: Mossimo
mustard coat: thrifted
trouser shorts: Merona
leggings: Target
deer knee socks: Claire's
army boots: Claire's

Before we left, we bought a mini handmade haybale, some button mums, and a few pumpkins for our porch. I know I'm a little late on the uptake, but it really feels like fall now. I love coming home from work and seeing all the pretty colors on my porch. I couldn't resist another feet shot. (They're my favorite after all, but that's no secret!)

I'll be back with a feature tomorrow! An unsponsored feature for a shop I really believe in so its extra fun!
Type @ ya'all soon!
